One Percent for America has won two Gold awards at the inaugural Anthem Awards, taking Gold for Innovation and Gold for Service in the Human and Civil Rights category.
What the Platform Does
One Percent for America lends to immigrants pursuing US citizenship, at one percent interest, to cover naturalization fees that stop people who can otherwise afford the process.
The design problem is trust, and it is not abstract. The people this platform serves have usually been failed by a financial institution already — sometimes exploited by one. A lending product aimed at them cannot look like the products that burned them, and it cannot ask for patience it has not earned. The case study covers how that shaped the interface and the disclosure model.
About the Award
The Anthem Awards were launched by the Webby Awards to recognize purpose-driven work, with categories spanning human and civil rights, health, education, sustainability and diversity. The first program drew entries from across the world and named its winners in early 2022.
