Leica Geosystems takes a Davey Silver

Silver in the Construction websites category, for a commerce platform serving buyers who arrive either to learn or to buy, and almost never both.

October 1, 2019

Leica Geosystems’ commerce platform has won a Silver Davey Award in the Construction websites category.

The Problem Underneath It

Leica Geosystems sells precision measurement equipment — instruments that cost as much as a vehicle and get specified rather than impulse-bought.

Its buyers arrive in one of two states, and the states do not overlap. One is researching: comparing tolerances, working out whether an instrument suits a job, often months from a purchase. The other already knows exactly which part number they need and wants to be left alone to buy it.

Build a single funnel and you fail both — the researcher hits a checkout they are not ready for, the purchaser wades through explanation they do not need. The case study covers how the two paths were separated without splitting the catalog behind them.

About the Award

The Davey Awards honor creative work from small agencies, judged by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts among peers of comparable size.
