AVMA’s member experience wins two Communicator Awards

Distinction in Associations and Distinction for Visual Appeal, for a platform that has to show 91,000 veterinarians what their membership is actually worth.

The American Veterinary Medical Association’s platform has won two Communicator Awards, both at the Distinction level: one in the Associations category, one for Visual Appeal and Function. The platform the awards recognize is AVMA’s in the day-to-day sense too: it was built for the association’s own team to run, without an agency in the loop for routine change.

What a Membership Body Has to Prove

An association’s website has a job that a company’s does not. A customer who stops seeing value in a product stops buying it once. A member who stops seeing value in a membership cancels a recurring renewal, and usually decides quietly, months before the renewal notice arrives.

The AVMA represents roughly 91,000 veterinarians. Its platform has to make the return on membership legible to a working vet who has ninety seconds between appointments — not by listing benefits, but by putting the relevant one in front of the right member at the moment it matters. The case study covers how the personalization and content model were built to do that.

About the Award

The Communicator Awards are judged by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts and recognize entries at two levels: Excellence and Distinction.
