United Way of Rhode Island has recognized Oomph (now Pare & Co) as an Organizational Champion of its 2024 Equity Challenge.
What the Challenge Is
The Equity Challenge is a 21-day program run by United Way of Rhode Island: a daily prompt — a reading, a short film, a podcast — on race, equity and inclusion, taken by participants across the state at the same time.
Organizational Champion recognition goes to employers whose staff participated at strength rather than to those who merely endorsed it.
Why We Take Part
The work we do is often for organizations serving people at their most vulnerable — patients, immigrants, people in crisis, people trying to reach a government service that was not designed with them in mind. Design decisions made without that awareness do measurable harm, and the harm falls unevenly.
Participation is one input among several into building that awareness. It is not a substitute for the discipline of research, and we do not present it as one.
