Six weeks to move 700 student exhibitions online

When COVID-19 closed the campus, RISD’s Ziggurat platform was adapted so more than 700 graduating students could still exhibit. The work became a Drupal.org case study and a 2020 Webby nominee.

A degree show is the point of an art school year, and in spring 2020 there was nowhere to hold one.

The existing Ziggurat platform was adapted over six weeks so that more than 700 graduating students could exhibit online instead. Acquia’s account of the same period records the platform absorbing a 1,200% traffic spike when the virtual graduation ran.

The work was written up as a Drupal.org case study and the resulting site was nominated at the 2020 Webby Awards.
