We published Quick Exit Button to Drupal.org in April 2024. It adds a configurable escape action to a site’s main menu. One press sends the visitor away from the current page, opens a second destination drawn at random from a list the site owner sets and scrubs the page they were on from browser history.
We wrote about quick exit buttons before we wrote one. In November 2023 we argued that a page someone cannot leave fast, and cannot clear from their browser history, is a safety failure rather than a usability one — and that the people it fails are the ones using a site to get away from an abuser.
Drupal.org records the contribution from April 1, 2024, under Oomph (now Pare & Co). The project page credits us for the strategic UX research behind the module.
