The ranking is not judged on submitted materials. It rests on anonymous employee surveys — the staff describe what it is actually like to work somewhere, and the employer does not get to write that description.
That is the part worth caring about. A firm can produce a compelling account of its own culture without much of it being true; it cannot produce compelling anonymous survey results the same way.
