The role

Pare & Co is an AI-native digital consultancy. We build websites, platforms, and digital products — and the intelligence inside them — for the organizations people depend on most.

The Strategy Lead makes Pare indispensable to clients as a key strategic partner. You generate new ideas and solutions that drive commercial outcomes by understanding client business models deeply, identifying where Pare creates outsized value and translating strategic insights into executed plans that stick. You build solutions with our technology partners that add value for our clients and improve the outcomes we deliver. The role reports to the business unit’s Managing Director.

As part of a cross-functional team, you are close enough to the work to know what is actually happening inside an engagement, while senior enough that your view of the relationship and conversations with the client stay strategic. You are the person who turns a healthy project into a standing outcomes advisory relationship.

Core responsibilities

  • You develop strategic recommendations that uncover new revenue streams, cost efficiencies or competitive positioning for clients, in support of the business unit.
  • You work alongside the Managing Director, sales and delivery teams on how Pare wins and expands accounts.
  • You drive strategic client initiatives forward and own the agenda with your client portfolio.
  • You support or lead quarterly business reviews across your portfolio and treat them as a strategy instrument — you use them to surface what is changing in the client’s business and to put the next initiative on the table.
  • You have proven experience reading how organizations actually work and earning a voice in the room. You are fluent in the concepts behind account mapping — the hard lines and the dotted ones — and you use that fluency to work with the Managing Director in advocating for Pare’s outcomes recommendations.
  • You serve as a trusted idea generator to delivery staff, translating strategy into work delivery can execute, and you identify patterns across the portfolio that signal market shifts or new service lines for Pare.
  • You strengthen Pare’s strategic point of view by identifying relevant trends, developing thoughtful content, improving our approaches and tools, and sharing insights that connect our work to client and business outcomes.
  • You have proven experience working with SaaS partners in a commercial role. You take the lead in building solutions jointly with technology partners — solutions that exceed clients’ expectations and open opportunities for Pare and its partners.

Time allocation

This is a billable role. Target split:

  • 50% billable client strategy work. Advisory engagements, discovery, QBRs and strategic initiatives inside active accounts.
  • 35% business development. Pursuit strategy, proposals, pitches and partner-sourced opportunities.
  • 15% internal. Service line development, portfolio pattern recognition and enablement of sales and delivery.

What we’re looking for

You thrive on complexity and love solving problems.

Ambiguity energizes you — you see it as a challenge to create entrepreneurial solutions. You have a commercial mindset: you think about generating value for both clients and Pare. You understand business model economics, move comfortably between strategy and implementation, and spot opportunities others miss. You thrive on creating new ideas and are not afraid to challenge the status quo.

Required

  • Three to seven years in strategy consulting, agency strategy, corporate strategy or senior client advisory (or equivalent educational experience in consulting). You have been in the room where deals were won and lost, and you know why.
  • Demonstrated commercial ownership. You have driven pursuits, written or led proposals and can point to revenue that exists because of work you did.
  • You can tell the difference between a client who needs a faster site and a client who needs a different business model. You know what it costs them to acquire a customer, where their margin lives and which of our recommendations would actually show up on their P&L.
  • Experience owning a client relationship at the VP and executive level, including running the recurring rhythm of that relationship.
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time for in-person client and prospect engagement, about five days per month.
  • Ability to run discovery with executive stakeholders and leave with a point of view rather than a summary. You form a recommendation and defend it. You thrive on driving action in the room.
  • Clear written and verbal communication that works for both CMO and CFO audiences.
  • Enough technical fluency in digital experience — CMS, martech, data architecture, personalization, search and AI visibility — to be credible with delivery teams and credible with clients.

Preferred

  • Experience in regulated or high-consideration industries: healthcare, financial services, pharma and higher education.
  • Experience productizing a service line, including pricing and packaging — thinking entrepreneurially is essential.
  • Work inside a technology partner ecosystem where co-sell relationships mattered. You view partner collaboration as a value-generating activity for customers, Pare and its partners.
  • Vertical depth in one of our core markets that we can build a practice around.

What this role is not

  • It is not a brand strategist, campaign planner or BDR role. It is not a researcher who produces a deck and hands off, and it is not for someone who needs a fully formed brief before they can start.
  • SEO, GEO and AI skills are welcome and can drive strategic recommendations, but this is not an analyst role.
  • It is not delivery leadership. Execution, staffing and margin stay with our delivery organization. The Strategy Lead is close to the work but does not run it.

How we’ll measure it

First twelve months:

  • Win rate on qualified pursuits where the Strategy Lead was engaged, against baseline
  • Expansion revenue in named accounts, and net new revenue from new business activities
  • Billable utilization against the 50% target
  • QBR cadence maintained across the assigned portfolio, with a named strategic initiative advanced out of each cycle
  • One productized offering shipped from portfolio pattern recognition
  • Evidence that strategy artifacts are used downstream by delivery to drive account expansion
